Raging Grannies

This post is in honour of my recently deceased Great Grandma Christopher. The world is a less interesting place without her and she will be missed very much. She lived a hard life but a very full one. Nothing I say or type will really give a good picture of the woman she was.

Instead check out this blog i stumbled upon. These ladies remind me of her. Funny and about as real as you can get.

I am unable to go to Kelowna for her funeral Thursday as I simply cannot get time off work (as it is I will likely be here very late tonight and tomorrow.

As for how I am doing with everything crashing down the last week or two all i can say is that these two words are getting me through.

Know hope.

Change we need

I have been talking about changes a lot the last few months. Lets continue with the theme.

This gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. The guy is a transformational leader in every sense of the word.

My adventures out of the closet number 199

In a strange turn of events my Baba called me today and basically asked if i had a boyfriend. I think this was more out of a need to confirm as i had never directly stated anything to her or my aunts and uncles. I just assumed they all figured it out when they met Greg at my birthday party and at thanksgiving.

She asked if thats the way it was going (in reference to me being gay) and if i was still looking for a girlfriend and she threw out a how did this happen? for good measure.

I told her that nothing happened and this was just the way things are.
I knew this was going too smoothly.

Find Daltyn

I received this email today. I briefly met Daltyn this summer and marveled at his budget barbie trailer.

On Monday morning, Oct 20th, at 8:02, my friend DALTYN called his office from home to say that he was heading downtown to pick up a copy of his Teaching Certificate from Alberta Education located at 10044 108 Street and that
he would be right in to work afterwards. He never made it to AB Ed and has not been seen since then. Daltyns' vehicle is also missing. It is a BRIGHT YELLOW FORD ESCAPE SUV , Alberta Lic Plate BAB 737. It has a
rainbow cowboy on the back windshield and a little yellow happy ball cowboy ball on the antenna. The police are investigating his disappearance and has stated that if they do not find Daltyn within the first 48 hours, any chances of finding him are slim. They do suspect foul play. The police have a Canada wide all points bulletin on
his vehicle.
Our only chance of aiding this investigation is finding Daltyn's vehicle. At least it would be a start in locating him or the animals who did something to him. Please ask people to keep an eye out for his vehicle. Should anyone locate the vehicle, DO NOT APPROACH, BUT DIAL 911. I would hate to have yet someone else put themselves in harms way.
Please, if you could check the streets, alleys, parking lots, parkades, that you come across in your travels. Some people have even suggested that his vehicle could already be outside of Alberta. Also, if you could please pass this email on to everyone you know. The more eyes looking for this vehicle, the better!
Thank you for any assistance you can provide for all of Daltyns friends who miss him and are hoping for his safe return to us.

If any of my albertan readers know anything or see anything please contact the police as soon as possible.

You lose some...

The weekend was a bit of a roller coaster for me. On Friday my best friend since i was in grade 11 and I had a massive argument that led to a rather calm discussion about how we had grown apart and how each of us feels we have nothing in common with each other anymore. She is uncomfortable with the way my politics are shifting and worried that I am making myself a target in some way. She worries about my choices and opinions on religion and I have grown tired of the coldness and the wall she has up the odd time we hang around.

This has been building for the past three years and I was glad to get it off my chest and I think she was as well. When it came to what we should do about the gap between us she basically said she didn't think we need to do anything. I was willing to try but I think that speaks volumes about how far apart we are on everything.

Things change people change and as such relationships even the ones we see as the bedrocks of your social network can rapidly change. I think all the changes in the last few months have really gotten me to a place where I can react to change in a far healthier manner than I used to.

I will cherish the friendship we had but I won't be mourning its loss or reduction.

On the plus side Greg and I had a couple of new friends come up from red deer. They are a great couple and we had a fantastic time together.

Lest we forget

I currently have a new obsession of reading political blogs. Now part of this is because I am thoroughly enjoying watching the neoconservative movement implode down in the states; the other part of it is that I am worried that the activist voice in the gay movement is dying out. I think this is partially due to lack of time interest effort and lack of knowledge of the activists that have gotten us to where we are.

October is apparently Gay history month (who knew?!?!?!?) and one of my favorite blogs has been reporting daily run downs of important gay events that occurred on that day. So go check out Steve & Warren's blog and learn something new!

Ten is for you so who gon' get the next dozen, fool

Ryan introduced me to Robyn a year or 2 ago through this song. Its a reggae classic redone as only she could do it. Cobrastyle has long since been my get out there and kick some ass song I am glad she is finally releasing a video for it. She fucking rocks and her last CD was filled with wicked good songs. The Macbook Brick mystery

Since very other apple fanboy has been throwing around his opinions in regards to the teasing clues about the new macbooks being all about the "brick".

These hints have been dealt out by one of my fav apple blogs 9to5mac.

Clue number 1. MacBook update event in a few weeks 'all about the Brick'
Clue number 2. This picture featuring a laser:

Clue number 3. A picture of a solid brick of aluminum.
So there are like a million rumors floating around about wireless docks, wireless power and all sorts of other nonsense. Unfortunately the solution to the riddle is much simpler. The new macbook chassis will be etched out of a solid single piece of aluminum eliminating seems screws and a whole bunch of waste and will possibly feature laser etching customization.

Just my prediction.

I think this makes me a tragic fanboy.

Because they are admittedly awesome

The thought of the day

Size does indeed matter. Especially when talking about a computer tablet.

Thanks stud, no more 3 inchers for me!
