This weekend is the gay campout at blackfalds.
I am super excited as not only am i taking today off to get down there early (for a primo spot). But this year's theme is superheros and villians. Our group is going as CUBFORCE 5 which is the logo I posted a little while back.
My costume and origin story is ready (almost). There should be many pictures and much hilarity.
I will be back on monday!

The BEEF bear bash on saturday was a massive huge success. It took me a day or so to recover and some even longer than that.
It was far more work than I anticipated getting everything organized and we almost had a few near disasters but it worked out great thanks to the many volunteers.
The BBQ during the day was well attended ( i was at work so I missed out on that part). Attendance was up from last year's bbq but Daren still made way too much food (he is such a baba).
The party was packed and the charity jock auction went even better. We managed to raise over 1500 dollars for the pride center. This totally blew me away as I had expected maybe to raise 600 bucks. This was also the highest grossing fundraiser the bar had seen in a long time. Greg did really well he came in third raising over $300 for his jock. My fella is a hottie!
Jaret did a fantastic job of getting everyone ready and organized and basically told me to go get drunk and enjoy myself and let him take care of the raffle.
I took his advice and promptly had a boozy fun time.
I can't wait for the next one in October!

Yes it is 9 pm and I am back at work after only having been gone 3 hours but my buddy Blake managed to make my day none the less. He had all of our gear in his bag for the wildly successful Beef bear party on saturday.

I am a food network dork. I think that and HGTV canada take up much of my tv viewing hours. Other than dick in butt porn nothing pleases me more than watching food being made. While my favorite show is probably diners drive-ins and dives i pretty much love most of the shows on that network.
One of those shows is the Iron Chef america. Today i found out that my fav chef Cat Cora (anyone that does a sambuca shot after every contest gets my vote) just had a baby with her girlfriend (the second one for them this year). Kudos ladies!
On the way down to the campsite sonic was doing a 90's alterantive rock weekend. The ride down was filled with some classic canadian alternative rock that I grew up with. One of my favs is stereo by the watchmen.
Great lyrics and great beats such a classic!

As a welcome change to the misery that is my work life my weekend was totally fantastic. We went camping near red deer for my buddy Craig's birthday. His family has a fantastic campsite right on the red deer river. It was pretty amazing.
On saturday we spent 7 and a half hours floating down the river. The weather was perfect and the company was good. We had planned for a 5 hour float but the river was slow. The only problem was we ran out of booze about half way through and Greg managed to get the worst tube sunburn I have ever seen (he even managed to burn his armpits!).
I even experienced one of those perfect moments where everything comes together perfectly and you want for nothing and all your cares slip away. Floating on that tube in the refreshing water with the sun beating down on me surrounded by friends. It really was great. That may even become my new happy place.
Here are some pics:

So we there has been a ton happening in my world of entertainment. Here are some lightening reviews of the stuff Greg and I have seen and been enjoying.
- UP: Offbeat, made me tear up a few times. Go see this you will love it. SQUIRREL!
- Bruno: Disappointing but had its moments.
- Harry Potter and the half blood prince: A chick flick disguised as a harry potter movie. It was still good but I wanted more action!
- True Blood: Season 1 Worth it for the one liners alone. It has rapidly become my new favorite show.
- True Blood: Season 2 Looks like it is shaping up to be a great new season with the addition of my all time favorite character actress Michelle Forbes
- Torchwood: We have been burning through the far superior season 2 in preparation for season 3. I love how post gay it is.
- Canada's Next top Model: This season has blown away anything I have seen in Tyra's bloated worn out offerings the last 3 years. Host and producer Jay Manuel (Mr. J) really pulled out all the stops and showed how this franchise could really churn out the entertainment. If you are a fan at all of the US version you should check this out and see how great it is without Tyra. Worth it for just Jay's subtle jabs at tyra. Go Linsay!!

Last night i had a dream / nightmare about attempting to get to a small intimate Britney Spears concert. It was one of those dreams where nothing seems to work out and you end up frustrated by the end of it. I kept waking up and then falling back to sleep only to have someone forget there tickets, lose a coat or some other form of bullshittery when all i want to do was get a good spot in front of the stage and dance.
The worst part about this dream...
I fucking can't stand Britney. Sure If her songs come on I will tolerate it but there is no way in hell i would spend a dime to see her lip-synch her way through a concert much less get excited about it.
I have had Toxic stuck in my head all day and I think it is putting me in a bad mood.
There is a disturbance in my gay chi or something. My brain is trying to tell me something but i am not sure what...

The fella and I had a pretty fantastic weekend. Saturday was really great we went out for nachos and a pint and then checked out Bruno in one of the newly renovated theaters at city center.
Bruno was ok. Greg liked Borat much more and I just thought it showed how far we had to go. There were more than a few laughs and a few couples that left during the movie. Yes it was a bit of a minstrel show but I found that it was kind of twisted in the fact that the theater was filled with gays and young guys. I just thought it was funny that these straight guys were coming to see a movie that featured a spinning penis scene. I am sure they are not confronted with that much gay ever.
Its not the end of the gay rights movement and I don't see how it could really be damaging in any lasting relevant way. I would say you are probably better off renting it than seeing it in theaters.

S0 with Battlestar done and me no longer getting my fill of the Chief's sci fi hottness I have had to move on to other pastures.
Now let me say right now I am not a fan of stargate and its smarmy delivery. However David Blue may be enough to get me watching. He is adorable, funny and kinda nerdy and a supporter of gay rights. What is not to like?

The musical was awesome and that is saying a lot as I am not a fan of musicals. I almost had my gay card and penis removed due to some nasty things I said about Moulin Rouge to my ex. It was a fantastic campy time and totally worth the 3 hour drive down (which included driving through a massive thunderstorm that stopped traffic).
We ended up sitting in the second row. Poor Greg was under one of the blood sprinklers and got soaked. The highlight was having him towel off naked in the parkade after. You can read his blog post on it here.

Happy 4th to all of my American readers. I hope the day is filled with food fun and good friends.
The fella and I are heading to calgary to see the Evil Dead: Musical that has been getting rave reviews. We are sitting in the "Splatter Zone" which means we will be getting covered in fake blood and gore!
It should be totally awesome!
We are going to celebrate his new promotion. I will let you know how it goes!

I am alive and well and back at work. Petie is leaving for Toronto tonight its gonna suck not having him around. I have found I like playing host to people its nice having a full house again.
I will resume more intensive blogging tomorrow with some great news. Till then here are some pics from our Canada Day hike in Jasper and the Edmonton fireworks (which was the best fireworks display i have seen in over a decade).
