My O Face

I am not sure wtf is going on these days with my face but at every event from Mexico to the BEEF Bear party there are pictures of me with my mouth open.

Now some would say this is because I never shut my mouth.

I wonder if i have a new disease called Picture Tourettes that causes my face to contort into strange shape whenever a camera is present.

Nerdy Boner Gasm!

Jackson Publick announced today that new venture brother episodes coming august. I am so excited! This has got to be the best written cartoon on tv by far. You should really check it out. His blog has some great pics from the new episode.

And how hot is Brock Sampson looking in his new uniform.

Despicable Dr. Levin turns out to be a fucked up gay

Dr. Levin a semi famous douchebag in gay history (I had heard about him in my deviance and sexual identity classes at university). Another person famous for persecuting gays who turns out to be a big old closeted homo. I am not really surprised at all. This guy was particularly terrible applying shock treatment and other torture in an attempt to cure soldiers of being gay. You have to hate yourself a lot to be able to do that to others. How the fuck he managed to get a job in Calgary of all places I will never understand.

Between this and welcoming Anne Coultier here with open arms a few weeks ago perhaps Alberta's new slogan should be Welcome all haters! You have to admit it is a little catchier than the current turkey of a slogan Freedom to create spirit to achieve.

If I believed in hell I would wish this man a special place in it. But since I don't all I can hope for is that he is appropriately punished. Perhaps maybe he should get a taste of the chemical castration or shock therapy that he forced on innocent gay men. He may be a big old mo but i have no fucking sympathy for people who take internal acceptance problems out on others.

Music Monday: Enter the dragon ette

I have known about dragonette a while. Honestly I have never been a really big fan. Jimbo sent this link to me on the weekend from the dragonettes new album Fixin to Thrill. I doubt this is the official video but i totally fucking love it. I may have to reconsider my stance on the band. I want to mash this up with tegan and sarah and some bluegrass for some reason. I don't even mind John Travolta in the video.

Enjoy Gone too far.

BEAR MADNESS!

I am getting super excited about the BEEF Bear Bash this weekend at boots! I think the turn out is going to be really great. Its going to be a different event this time as we do not have 8 people staying with us so I wont have a bunch of cubs rolling around the condo. So far only 3 out of towers are going to be crashing at the condo. It also means our regular debauchery crew wont be at the party which is kinda sad but also kind of exciting because it means I will be able to meet new people!

Turn out should be really great!
Details on the event are here.

Not so common law

It was with great surprise last night that Greg and I discovered that this year we can file our taxes under common law. I have never been in a relationship before where that was possible. Now to figure out what the benefits or drawbacks would be.

I am lucky to live in a country that recognizes our relationship.

I'll have another

Mayor Stephen Mandel has decided to run for a third term here in Edmonton. Part of me thinks this is great and another part of me thinks it may not be such an awesome idea. Mandel has managed to get things done that were near and dear to my heart expanding the LRT and getting the downtown stadium going are two things that seem to stick out in my mind. But after two fairly successful terms I have to wonder if it would not be better to have someone with some fresh ideas and perspective. Ward 5 Counselor Don Iveson who runs a good but seldom updated blog comes to mind as a great candidate. I have also heard from a few insiders that Mandel can be a bully. On the flip side sometimes you have to be a dick to get things done.

Edmonton has some great potential one only needs to look at the potentially progressive Municipal Development Plan to see there are some people that get that we need to make some changes if we are to prosper not just in the next 4 years but in the next 40.

For my friends to the south

I know for know our sycophant neocon federal government has not managed to take away our right to marry yet so this is more for my friends to the south.

I totally want to gay marry both of these guys! ADORABLE!

Hat tip to one of my fav bloggers for posting this first!

Dreams of the pipe and stone variety

As many of you know I have been actively thinking about selling my condo. The building just isn't for me anymore. The place was a great start but I am ready for a place where i can actually BBQ and have friends over without worrying about my insane senile upstairs neighbors complaining. Seriously I can't even turn on the ceiling fan in my bedroom as it causes a vibration on their floor.

The area we are looking in is small and the budget is super limited. We both love the neighborhood (Oliver) and I definitely don't want to move away from it. Housing options are limited but in my ideal world we would buy one of those vacant lots and build one of these houses.

Green roof, third floor patio, open concept, low energy use and Canadian designed and built fuck yeah! Alas I think it would be way out of my price range :(.

For the big bears

This made me giggle.

In the rain

I walked to work in the rain today. Spring is here and as much as I am glad that winter seems to be leaving this town I hate how Edmonton is covered in a dusty grimy mess that the winter leaves behind. I was extra glad for the rain today it was helping clean things up and the air smelled so wonderful.

I really want a good downpour to really clean everything up and get the grass and trees a kickstart!

As a side note how awesome was Rupaul's Drag Race?? Henry Rollins is one hot intellectual muscle bear. I want 4 of them.

Changing the game

The vacation to Mexico was really fantastic. I had a really great time with some old friends and made some great new ones. The wedding went off with only some minor issues related to the weather.

By the end of the 7 days i had become accustom to 24 hour non stop salsa, guacamole and ice cream. The button on my favorite pair of shorts felt differently about this however as it literally popped off in the phoenix airport on the way home.

Probably the best part of the trip was it allowed me to reboot and get back more to the person I used to be. The old friends (who I do not get to see often) were from a time when I was far more ambitious, hungry, innovative and was poised for some success. Talking to them about how things are currently was a real eye opener as to how much I have changed for the worse in the last 3 years. This job has really beaten a lot out of me and the rut it has helped me dig was so deep I had no idea I was in it.

The trip gave me a lot of time to think and I managed to come up with a really attractive side project that will really make use of all of my skills. I had a really good chat with the VP that I get along with yesterday and he has agreed to finance the project totally seperate from the company which is fantastic. I already did the first mock up for the product and I think things are going to go rather well with it. We also talked about both committed to this company for 8 more months with a pledge to both leave at the end of the year if things had not changed. All in all it was a very productive conversation.

For the first time in a long time I am not stressing out about the future.
Thank you Mexico...

The land of the free

How much do i love the free wifi at the phoenix airport? Almost as much as the fact that they serve beer before 11 am.

Yes the beer is terrrrrrrrible but its the concept of legal pre 11 am beer and wifi that i can really get behind. Mexico soon!

As a side note I am running on 2 hours sleep.

Webcrimes Case 10: The Psychedelic flash of horror

Ladies and gentlemen my mind has been blown. I still do not know if this is fake or not. I have done some research and it looks like this site is for real and that its creator Baran Galocy is made up of 100% gif awesome. Not only will he create a site that makes your eyes bleed in 20 different fonts but he can install solar panels on your home.

I do not know how I missed this for so long. This is either the best hoax ever or the worst webcrime I have ever seen in my life. I actually got dizzy visiting one of the sub sites.

Please do not view these sites under the influence of hallucinogens. It is simultaneously they best argument for and against drug use I have ever seen.

As it is my nightmares are going to be filled with the pixelated images of Baran stepping out of nowhere to discuss how cool flash based players are and how Walk-Outs are the best way for me to reach my customers in a friendly manner. These pages may be enough to make me quit pot, booze and for that matter sleep forever. You must must must visit them here to see for yourself.
