Not there yet: Edmonton Gay Hate Crimes Continued

Last week I talked about the vicious hate motivated attack on a Shannon Barry. The attack that went un-investigated by the edmonton police service until media outcry put a fire under some asses. They blamed the lack of action on paperwork issues.

I think you and I can smell the bullshit they are shoveling. This has happened before and it will happen again. We must be vigilant.

Paula Simons at the journal has a great article summing things up to this point.

Webcrime Case 11: The copycat horror Part 2

I managed to get a screenshot of what it did to my site!

Fucking hilariously awesome! Check out the link here.

Webcrime Case 11: The copycat horror

This is either the best or the worst thing to happen to the internets ever. As many of you know with the closure of yahoo's terribly offensive geocities sites millions of the worlds worst webcrimes were wiped away.

This site turns you favorite webpage into a geocities site. It is brilliant, evil and fantastic and it must be stopped.

It looks like the site is having some trouble due to the gizmodo post about it. It is totally worth a try.

What have you done for your earth today?

Sooo I neglected to talk about earth day. I am sure some of you were a little surprised that my liberal pinko commie earth loving ass didn't have a thing to say on the day we are really supposed to focus on saving our planet from ourselves.

This was mostly due to the fact that what I did was a surprise for Nessa my brothers occasional girlfriend and my former roomate. She recently totaled her 1989 hyundai sonata and since yesterday was her birthday I decided to give her condi my ever faithful 1989 toyota cressida.

Condi was not getting the attention she deserved she sat for 3 months in the condo parking lot without being moved once. I tend to walk everywhere I need to go and if we do need to drive somewhere Greg prefers to take his accent. So we are now a 1 car couple. This is gonna save us both money as now I don't have to pay for insurance and Greg doesn't have to pay for the extra parking spot.

I am going to miss Condilezza (so named by Mr. Hurley). She had a really cool environmental control system that popped out of the dashboard (james bond style) and i spent hours seriously upgrading her sound system. She is in good hands however I hope :P

Things you should know about my body

Got my test results back from the clinic today. In highschool and university I always loved getting tests back. It was always like a nice present you got for doing good work. I know clinic testing is much different but for some reason I still get the same feeling of anticipation in my gut. Everything came back clear/negative so that is awesome as well!

I started a new diet to help get my ulcer troubles under control. Its a modified south beach diet that starts out very strict and then requires some lifestyle changes. As many of you know i have a complicated relationship with food. The best part so far is I get to eat as much meat as I want so I am not hungry and its forcing me to make my own meals. I have also started to have breakfast every morning for the first time ever. I started on monday and so far my stomach has been great and haven't had to take an anti acid pill all week!

I have been sleeping better and generally feel good. We will see if I can keep it going. The weekends are always the hardest for me to keep things under control.

Not there yet: Edmonton Gay Hate Crimes

Shit has been going down in Edmonton the last week or two. On Monday the Edmonton Pride center was broken into, vandalized and had equipment stolen. On Saturday a lesbian was viciously assaulted by men yelling homophobic slurs. The worst part is the Edmonton police service didn't even file a report on what was obviously a hate crime. Check out the links above for more information.

This is not the first time EPS has failed to do something about an obvious gay bashing i know of a few incidences where someone had the absolute shit kicked out of them and nothing was done. There seems to be a cavalier attitude to these kinds of attacks in this city however I am not sure what. The media does not seem to do much about these types of things. You usually end up hearing about them via facebook through status updates.

A few years ago I was pondering compiling a Google map based database that users could submit gay bashing incidents to and you could track the areas where there was likely to be trouble. I lacked the back end knowledge to build it so I let it go. I still think there should be a place were we can safely and openly talk about these kinds of incidents.

Not there yet

I think it is absurd that in this day and age in this country that gays are banned from donating blood. Why isn't someone doing something about this blatant discrimination?

I donated in highschool and ever since I get a call every few months asking me to donate. After almost 10 years of putting them off I got fed up and told them that until the gay ban was lifted I could not donate. She informed me she would be closing my file and I told her i would be more than happy to donate when the ban was lifted.

Anything to make you feel like a second class citizen because of who you love.

Check out this awesome blog for more on the absurdity of the ban.

Can I haz more Wrath plz?

With all the bitching and moaning going on about the volcano fucking up peoples lives and every religious asshole using it as excuse to push a hateful agenda Kyle has a totally brilliant post that summarizes things perfectly.

I commented to the fella last week about how glad i was that i was agnostic and could live my life unconcerned about incurring some random deity's wrath.

Font Porn for you typeface dorks in the world

Julian Hansen is brilliant and this flowchart infographic is hilarious and pretty much perfect. Next time I have to get a client to decide on a font I am going to use this.

Music Monday: La roux

I may never have hair as fierce or as ridiculous but i can sure as heck enjoy the electro dance beats of Bulletproof by La Roux.

Great way to pick up your energy if you spent the weekend throwing a mango margarita party for friends!

Service with a smile

I went to the clinic today for testing. I think its an important part of any sexually active adults health routine to get tested regularly. If you are getting laid go get tested!

Now there is no way the process is going to be pleasant. There is the uncomfortable waiting in the waiting room with various stressed out and sketchy characters. This was made worse by the fact that i screwed up when my appointment was and was 30 min late so they booked me in as a walk-in. It wasn't so bad there was a terrible movie staring crory haim as a guy who cross dresses to avoid bullies and get closer to the girl of his dreams. It was total 80's dreck but in a fantastic way.

After an hour of waiting they finally saw me and the nurse was a total sweetheart. She kept apologizing for everything. The amount of time i had to wait the number of people in the waiting room, the awkward questions she had to ask and the awkward things we had to do each was followed by multiple apologies. She was really sweet and we joked around throughout the whole process.

It was probably the most pleasant trip I have ever had there. Now if only there was a way to avoid the whole painful q-tip in the penis bit I would have been more than fine!

Music Monday: No promises or regrets

Went out last night and showed Mikey and his fella Andrew the town. We hit up dadeo and julios and then the gay bar. Was a good time just wish it hadn't been so cold.

Despite a mild beer hangover I am feeling good. This song has been in my head all morning and even though it is not new it kicks ass.

Luck wont be a lady tonight

For some reason my phone didn't warn me this morning as i had set it to and I missed out on Lady Gaga tickets. In less that two hours all the under 100 dollars seats are sold out :(

I am less than impressed.

The beardening!

I have been slacking off on the whole shaving thing the last two weeks so today in the shower i decided to try something new.

I have a terrible time trying to grow any sort of facial hair which is tough when you hang out with cubs and bears all the time so please be kind to my baby beard.

Should it stay or should it go?

Would you put it in your mouth?

The fella is off swimming. I stayed home as I am still fighting off this damn cold bug. I didn't want to infect the whole pool.

Which is fine as a massive wind storm and blizzard has rolled into Edmonton. Alberta sucks it was plus 13 this afternoon now with the windchill it feels like minus 7. Ridiculous!

I meant to post this a while back but I just saw another commercial for it and I figured now was the time.
If Homeocoksinum isn't the worst name for a cold remedy I do not know what is. Its Pronounced Homeo -Cock - Seenum. Now I only have a handful of marketing classes behind my belt but I have to think there was a better name. I'm sure it sounds better in french... Oh wait its exactly the same in french. I can't wait for the follow up Ballzinyurmouth to cum eerrr come out.

Not ugly at all

I have recently begun watching Ugly Betty again as it begins to wrap up its final season. I have never been a huge fan however i have always loved how LGBT positive the characters and storylines have been. They have never shied away from dealing with us not as minstrels like will and grace did but as real people.

The slow comming out of Justin Suarez (Mark Indelicato) has really been the highlight of the whole show for me. Mark as always been ultra fierce as Justin and last nights episode where he comes out to his family at his mother's wedding by dancing with his first boyfriend really tugged at the heartstrings.

I turned into a big old sloppy bottom while i was watching. Kudos to the writers and to ABC for putting such an amazing storyline on network television. I just think if I had something like this to look at when I was a baby gay it could have eliminated some of the self doubt and hatred I felt for being different.

Its amazing what a decade can do.

Hello Blogger I am sorry for my absence. I was hit by a flu bug and by family obligations and work stress all at the same time. I am starting to feel human again.

I had a great zombie jesus weekend. There was a bit too much family time for my taste but we survived. Saw clash of the titans. It was very mediocre. My only advice would be don't bother seeing it in 3d as you could barely tell. Hardly worth the extra money.

I have today off as well. I had a list of things i wanted to do but i have been knocked on my ass by a cold. Not impressed!
